City Ready to Provide Rental House for Poor Citizens

To fulfill residential needs for citizens, City Administration will provide rental house. However, rental house provision for poor in Jakarta would be different with Singapore Government doing.

"We don't imitate Singapore. Singapore is selling. We don't want it as we believe that there are always citizens who cannot afford for house thus we provide low-cost rental house," said Jakarta Governor, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, at City Hall, Tuesday(4/21).
According to him, rental house provision serves as incubator for citizens who cannot afford for house yet. However, if those citizens have been able to buy a house, then the rental house should be handed back to Government for being replaced by the other poor citizens.
Basuki: City Residents Act Like Drama Actors"Once they are able to buy a house, then the rental house should be handed back to us," he asserted.
He added, his party also has anticipated the citizens who are forced to have a house in Jakarta suburb thus transportation fee becomes expensive.
"We force you with ERP and from the outside we prepare bus. ERP is expensive or you should use public transportation," he disclosed.
